Hannah Treadway (University of Florida, USA)
Hannah Treadway is a Ph.D. candidate in Hispanic Linguistics at the University of Florida, where she conducts her research at the Bilingual Sentence Processing Lab and the Brain, Language, and Bilingualism Lab. Her work employs neural and behavioral techniques (EEG, eye-tracking) to characterize how the sociolinguistic attributes of multilingual contexts—measured through corpora, personal social networks, and measures of linguistic entropy and diversity—are reflected in neurocognition during or as a result of bi- or multilingual processing. Her doctoral dissertation explores how the variability across communities and individuals in Spanish-English code-switching, as documented in corpora, manifests itself in its processing. Her work advocates for a socially grounded approach to the study of multilingualism in experimental contexts.
